The Face of LMVA Small Businesses

Posted on May 12, 2020 by La Mesa Village Association

The COVID-19 pandemic has swept through our LMVA community and changed the face of our once thriving business community.

Who is the La Mesa Village Association? From the outside, we are a group of small business owners and residents who volunteer our time to promote the unique aspects of our downtown Village. We are the organization that brings special events to our community, such as the Classic Car Show, Holiday in the Village, Oktoberfest, and who brought the La Mesa Farmer’s Market to the Blvd.

Up close, the LMVA is made up of a diverse group of individuals, each with our own story and purpose for what we do and why we do it. Behind each small business is a mom, dad, wife, husband, son, or daughter who has put their heart and soul into the business they or their relatives before them have created.

With the current crisis, many businesses have temporarily closed, or shifted gears in order to survive by adapting to the new way of doing business. We truly appreciate the support of our community during this shutdown by continuing to shop online, grab take out from your favorite restaurant and do business with realtors and other service providers.

We don’t know what the future will look like when we begin to re-open, but we do know we will need our community more than ever to support these small businesses so that we can once again enjoy being together at our shops, restaurants and events.

How can you help? Continue to frequent local restaurants for take out and delivery of meals. Purchase gift cards from your favorite retailers and/or dining establishments. For retailers who are beginning to re-open, shop online (website, social media pages) and place an order for curbside pick up or shipping. Some businesses are able to offer individual appointments. Please visit the LMVA's new "Open During Quarantine" online directory regularly to see which businesses are open!

Together we are stronger! Stay safe!
