Your Guide to La Mesa Oktoberfest

When you think of fall in La Mesa, the annual Oktoberfest celebration is probably top of mind. The La Mesa Oktoberfest festival is the largest in Southern CA, so be sure to make plans to attend this year’s event. La Mesa Oktoberfest takes place October 4, 5 & 6 in the downtown Village area between Spring Street and 4th! This free, community event has something for everyone and is open to all ages!  

Here’s a rundown of the fun activities available during this 3-day festival: 

HOFBRAUHAUS BIERGARTEN will feature live entertainment including everything from traditional Oompa bands to rock & pop cover bands. Take part in fun, interactive games throughout the weekend such as the stein holding contest, yodeling contest, chicken dance off and many more!  Plus, enjoy tasty German treats and Oktoberfest biers. PALM AVENUE BIER HALL is an ALL NEW full-service area where you can sit under a large shaded tent and order all of your favorite German grub from lederhosen-dressed waitresses! BATWOMAN CRAFT BIER & SPIRITS GARDEN features a German theme combined with a SoCal vibe. Kick back and enjoy local brewers and craft cocktails while you listen to the beats of a DJ soundtrack. SUNDAY FUNDAY HAPPY HOUR is available on 10/6 from 10 am – 1 pm and will feature the following specials: 

  • ½ off all drinks in all biergartens
  • ½ off single ride tickets for the Ferris wheel 
  • 10% ticket packages for inflatable rides 
  • 10% off select vendor booths Hofbrauhaus Biergarten and Palm Avenue Bier Hall food specials

GLÜCKLICH GAMES - Let your competitive side shine at the La Mesa Oktoberfest! The GLÜCKLICH GAMES feature both individual and team competitions! You’ll have a blast trying to stack kegs into a pyramid, fight it out in a spirited game of tug-o-war, beer stein races through a mini obstacle course, and more! GERMAN KINDER KARNEVAL is an interactive children’s playground featuring a Ferris wheel, carnival games, face painting, caricatures, balloon art, crafts, inflatable jumpers, and much more. Click here for more details. 

DACKELDORF DACHSUND VILLAGE is a place to bring your furry friend for a variety of fun events, including Wiener dog races, a fashion show, howl-deling contest and more! The first event starts at 5pm on Friday, 10/4. Click here for the complete line up of events throughout the weekend. 

CRAFT FAIRE - It wouldn’t be Oktoberfest in La Mesa without all of the unique, local artisans showcasing their hand-made treasures. You’ll find items such as candles, soaps, jewelry and more that cannot be found anywhere else. Click here for a glimpse of participating vendors. 

LA MESA OKTOBERFEST HOURS: 

Friday, October 4th: 4 – 10 pm
Saturday, October 5th: 10 am – 10 pm
Sunday, October 6th: 10 am – 6 pm
